What the....???!

Peace the spork out!

I have to admit this news caught me by surprise, as I didn't know he was suffering from stomach cancer all along. I'm only familiar with his work in The Lives of Others as the Stasi officer, but still, he was a great actor.

I'm bored today, so.......

Apparently, my dad is either extremely frustrated by the current state of our local radio stations or looking for an internship with Pitchfork or Idolator or is just too darn free at home because of a state holiday, because this happened today:

Me- Blue, Old Man- Red
*This is an actual Yahoo Messenger conversation.
** Uhh yeah, my dad knows how to use Messenger.

i am lisening now to amy winehouse's valarie on youtube. she is really kuat!
hahahaahahaha
i got the whole album, want?
ya, please
ok
voice really geng
too bad she's kinda in a drug/alcohol binge now
some of these jewish women really shine in singing. and many of them are influnced by the black music.
ok valerie is actually NOT in her current album
it looks like a live recording
yes
BUT i do have the song on another album
she recorded valerie specially for mark ronson's album
mark ronson is a UK producer n DJ
i just saw the other video live at some concert. she is really good
yeah
2 versions, the one u watched is a live accoustic version
valerie is a cover song
original is by a californian band the zutons
wow. they are good too? always praised by Q
zutons...so-so, i dont really like them
but some think they're good
sorry zutons are british
i mixed them up

(3o minutes later)
i just finished watching White Stripes - Death Letter (Son House Cover live) - wow wow wow.
oooo never heard of it before
where did u find all these stuff?
the lady drummer is so spaced out and COOL
meg white is like the hottest chick ever
she seems to maintain her cool even the guitarist always freaking out on his guitar
i'm not too familiar with the white stripes...but i know they're one of those bands that should be heard n seen live
the one i sent via e-mail is a live recording
yup
u get the amy wino email?
i dunno how good the mp3 quality is, but should be ok
ya
if you like the white stripe singer, check out his other band, the raconteuers
Q n UNCUT love him like god

(5 minutes later)
i am now checking the manic street preacher - currently listening to their duet with Nina Persson from the Cardigans.
ooooo very nice very nice
i downloaded the manic's last 5 albums
superb stuff
sure beat listening all those american hip hops and endless samplings loh
haha
the manic's lead singer is also one of the best vocalist around
when he sang with Nina, Nina's voice get dwarfed by his
yeah he is good. steady too
go youtube check out their Live concerts
good stuff
ok
are the Cardigans a girl band? i am seeing some lady guitarist and drummer in their video
nope..cause on this tune they collaborate with just Nina Persson
not the cardigans
she release some solo stuff the last few years
trivia time: the song actually features lyrics frm past manics song
did it make into the top something?
no 2 on the UK charts
album doing commercially well also
desrvedly so
their last album was overlook by critics n fans
n did poorly in the charts
but when i download it, i found some gems on it
send away the tiger was the their previous?
nope send away the tigers is the newest one
previous one was Lifeblood
but this duet song is from the 'tiger'
yes
new album, just relased in april
Q give 4 stars ahahaha
i like it very much
i got the album
can transfer to u back home
so lend me lah
can la

(Ranting ahead)
i am extremely fed up with radio nowadays
they play amy wino's rehab lately
but HAVE TO play the jay-z remix version
i mean, what the fuck
either 80's oldies (music critics always say that is the walking dead era) or hip hop2. now even 104 also start playing 3rd rate oldies. i wonder their format producers really know anything about music
one word to sum it all: shitty music
they basically play whatever is on the billboard top 200
even the americans themselves think their music is shitty
but they choose all the wrong shits
and left out the gems
exactly
billboard top 200 lor

You see, this is what we usually do, we will recommend each other music we think are dope. I introduce him to new bands and artists, and he in turn will introduce some classic stuff whether its Motown, Pink Floyd or Joni Mitchell. You should take a look at his album collection, its a frigging music store. I would always remember the first time I pick up an old issue of Q magazine and the time when he lend me the Greatest Hits album by Marvin Gaye and The Temptations. He still subscribes to Q(because I'm a avid fan) and Mojo, even adding Uncut to his subscription in the recent years. And he isn't afraid to try out new music like Nelly Furtado(yeah, true) and James Morrison even though they're clearly not his cup of tea.

Does your dad has a huge influence on your cultural upbringing? Is he still a big fan of Cliff Richards? Does Andy Williams bring a tear to his eye? Feel free to share!

Empty Souls

This is one of my current favorite on the iPod:

Empty souls will leave their homes
To find a place where they're alone
Rattling memories and hollow bones
Leaves a taste so bitter and cold

For empty souls will stand alone
Shivering like black-eyed dogs
Waiting to be taken home
Where that is they only know

Exposed to a truth we don't know
Collapsing like the Twin Towers
Falling down like April showers
Colossal endless like a marathon
God knows what makes the comparison
God knows what makes the comparison

For the empty souls
For the empty souls

For empty souls they stand alone
Shivering like black-eyed dogs
Waiting to be taken home
Where that is they only know

Exposed to a truth we don't know
Collapsing like the Twin Towers
Falling down like April showers
Colossal endless like a marathon
God knows what makes the comparison
God knows what makes the comparison

For the empty souls
For the empty souls

Colossal endless like a marathon
God knows what makes the comparison
God knows what makes the comparison

For the empty souls
For the empty souls

A wonderful, amazing song on an often over-looked album by the Manic Street Preachers. James Dean Bradfield's voice is just mind-blowing. I've been enjoying their new album a lot and their live performances is always a treat to the mind and soul.

Check out the song here:

Where is Allegra?

And today, I bring you the one and only, true blue American royal family..... The Simpsons. This will be featured in the August issue of Harper's Bazaar, which I secretly think is a much better read than the bitchzilla-run Vogue.

Check out the crazies at OhNoTheyDidnt for some pretty cool real-life comparisons. I did really LOLed at Linda Evangelista's stoic potrayal as one of the Simpson's character.

Oh btw, I manage to fought the heavy masses of bastard childs and their mindless parents rushing to watch Harry Potter's 5th time raping the box office and saw it during the weekend. Was it worth the wait? Hell to the naw! The movie was even less enjoyable than the previous installment and seriously, I hated the books. I wiki-ed the original plotlines and saved myself 30 bucks. J.K.Rowling is rich enough, she doesn't really need my help to buy another castle. What the fuck am I babbling here? Anyway, yeah, the movie blows. Urgh.

Blood bath

If you have a pussy down there, please drop everything you're doing right now and head right on to One D At A Time to read Slut Machine's latest blog entry on the art of spewing blood monthly.

I swear to the fucking deities above, this bitch is my god.
And this totally changes my requirements for a steady guy: You don't need the balls to buy me tampons at the pharmacy, you need the balls to handle my accidental periods with grace.

People with a lot of $$$$$

Blackstone buys Hilton for $26bn
US private equity group Blackstone is buying the global Hilton Hotels chain for $26bn (£13bn) in an all-cash deal.

Under the deal, Blackstone is paying $47.50 for each Hilton Hotels Corporation share, a 32% premium over their closing price on Tuesday.

Blackstone said the deal had been approved by Hilton's board, and was due to be completed by the end of 2007.

The surprise announcement comes two weeks after Blackstone raised $4.13bn through floating a 13.2% stake.

Numerous hotel brands

Blackstone said it intends to grow the Hilton business.

The private equity firm already has a number of hotel investments, including La Quinta Inns and Luxury Resorts and Hotels.

US-based Hilton's other brands include Conrad Hotels, and the Waldorf-Astoria Collection.

Blackstone's co-founders, Stephen Schwarzman, 60, and Peter Peterson, 81, earned more than $2.4bn between them from last month's share sale.

The global network of Hilton hotels were reunited as one company in 2006 after a 42-year split.

The reunion happened after Hilton Hotels Corporation (HHC) paid $3.3bn to buy the 400 international Hilton hotels owned by UK-based Hilton Group.

The division took place in 1964, when HHC sold off all its overseas hotels to concentrate on the US market.

Does this mean that Paris Hilton's inheritance package will get larger?
Btw, Schwarzman was wildly rumored to have pocketed a whopping 7 billion bucks from the float of Blackstone, not the measly "2.4 billion between the two". 2.4? Is it sufficient for his parties? Or Hampton villas?
